The City of Sanford awarded the contract for the new construction of Sanford Fire Station #5 to Carolina Commercial Contractors. With many new housing developments under construction, this new fire station on Colon Road will provide essential city resources and improved response times to Sanford’s growing population.

Fire Station #5 will be 12,000 square feet and include 2 apparatus bays, a kitchen and dining area, bunkrooms, exercise space, offices, laundry and more. The one-story facility is designed for construction of a third bay in the future.

Carolina Commercial’s Senior Project Manager, Dave Richardson, stated “Station #5 illustrates Sanford’s commitment to its community by investing in public service enhancements, and Carolina Commercial Contractors is excited to be a part of this essential piece of our community’s future.”

Alongside ADW Architects, Sanford Fire Department Chief Matthew Arnold, SFD Deputy Chief Ken Cotten, City Engineer Sherry Earley, and the Fire Department Committee, Carolina Commercial is looking forward to working together on constructing the newest station slated to open in 2024.
